A lead acid battery has positive & negative plates fully immersed in electrolyte which is dilute sulphuric acid. The concentration of electrolyte is defined & specified for batteries of different applications based on the application & in line with national & international standards...
Golf carts usually need 48 volts batteries. In earlier times 8 nos of 6 volt batteries of 225 Ah capacity were being used. Subsequently 6 nos of 8 volt batteries of 170 Ah capacity were used. This obviously reduced battery cost considering that the capacity of the batteries reduced from 225 Ah to 170 Ah. The voltage being same, the reduction in capacity in Ah meant savings in lead cost for the battery manufacturer, which obviously trickled down the line...
To keep a golf cart battery in good condition you need to do the following: 1. Ensure that the lead acid batteries are not left in a discharged state, after use. Put batteries on recharge after every discharge. 2. Use the correct capacity, recommended charger. 3. Top up batteries to correct level regularly, as recommended, using only demineralised or...
Charging the 150 Ah battery using a constant voltage charger is the best way to charge faster at user end without damaging the battery. Please do not use a constant current charger though it may be a faster method comparatively. You can do so provided you can do continuous monitoring to reduce current after gassing starts and also if the temperature goes beyond 45 degrees centigrade. Would not recommend this...
